Absurd, and true. Here is how we know.
Absurdata is a numbered collection of absurd facts that are true. Facts are live now; comparisons and charts are coming later. Every figure links to where it came from, so you never have to take our word for it.
How an entry gets a number
- 1A machine drafts it from public datasets and reference sources, and attaches every source it used.
- 2It is checked automatically: each link must resolve and contain the figure or sentence it is cited for.
- 3It waits in fresh, unnumbered, where visitors vote.
- 4At 50 net votes it gets a number and joins the feed. The number never changes and never gets reused.
The rules
Facts quote their source word for word. Coming later: comparisons will show their working, with a source for each input, so you can redo it on a calculator, and charts will name the dataset behind each line and print the correlation. Correlation is not causation; that is the joke.
When we are wrong
If a source breaks or an entry turns out to be wrong, it is retired: the page stays up with a short correction at the top, so a shared link never ends in a 404. Retired entries leave random and top.
What it costs
Every fact is found and checked by an AI model, and that costs real money. Here is the running total, including the drafts that failed a check and never got published.
